Activities
SCHOOL IS A TIME OF EXPLORATION and expansion. Students have new experiences, enlarge their horizons and learn not just about academic matters but about people, about themselves, and about the community and the world in which they live. Being at the B K Birla Centre for Education is itself a broadening experience.
Students participate in a wide variety of games, athletics, group activities, and artistic endeavors ranging from the time-consuming to the lighthearted. Activities exist to suit every schedule, talent, and interest, and new activities are born every year.
The school has a wide range of co-curricular activities, which receive as much importance as the academic disciplines. Its many playing fields and state-of-the-art gymnasium support a truly remarkable variety of sports like Cricket, hockey, football, handball, basketball, volleyball, lawn and clay tennis, table tennis, badminton, chess and carrom, softball, cycling, weight-training, gymnastics, rock climbing, archery, shooting, horse riding, swimming, billiards and snooker are important parts of the school calendar. Besides these, martial arts and yoga constitute an integral part of the school's physical education training.
Good coaching is provided for the school teams, but the needs of those who enjoy sport without being great experts are also catered to. The children are encouraged to participate in indoor and outdoor games which develop their skills and talents and satisfy their personal interests.
At the B K Birla Centre For Education, we expect each child to be purposeful, and we ensure that they have a wide range of activities to choose from. These enable them to discover their individuality, to find confidence in their own worth and to develop respect for others.
The school encourages students to pursue their areas of interest in music, drama, debates, creative writing, photography, book-craft, wood craft, aeromodelling, leather work, clay modelling, sketching, painting, electronics, sculpture and environment studies among others.
They are encouraged to form hobby clubs and societies, in and out of school hours, for literature, nature, general knowledge, the audio-visual club, radio electronics, stamp and coin collections, and computers.
Inter and intra-mural competitions, an essential part of the school calendar, hone the skills of the pupils. Competitions in handwriting, essay writing, singing, quiz, elocution, story telling, drawing and painting, mime, mono acting, etc tap their talents and skills.
Community service programs offer pupils the chance to face some of the problems and opportunities posed by life beyond the school gates and teach our pupils the value of such service. They learn to appreciate the need for responsibility, reliability and sensitivity in being available to help without being patronising.
The school organises regular tours during the holidays to areas of educational, historical and industrial interest. These tours provide opportunities for the students to explore and widen their horizons and experience.
