School Life
The school is basically divided into an academic block and hostel buildings inter-spersed with landscaped lawns and playing fields. The academic block is a two storeyed structure; its spacious classrooms have been designed to optimise natural light and ventilation. Specially designed, modern, ergonomic furniture ensures that pupils do not suffer fatigue.
The modern science and computer laboratories, the audio/visual room and the art activity centres are also housed in the academic block.

The school has five hostel blocks. Each hostel block is a two storeyed structure divided into dormitories, residential flats, common rooms and a study room for students. They accommodate the students, the house masters, tutors, the ward boys / the ayahs.

Residential Facilities
The residential hostels have been designed to give comfort, privacy and safety to the students. Each hostel block houses 144 or 108 boys, cared for by the house master, two or three house tutors, a ward boy or a matron.

The house master maintains medical, academic and personal progress records of the wards in his care. He and the house tutors are always accessible to the students and form a close network of advice and counsel.

Dormitories are spacious and well ventilated with all modern amenities. Each dormitory houses 18 boys and is designed to allow for privacy and a separate niche and cupboard for each boy. The common bathrooms are fitted with modern conveniences.

Senior boys (classes X) have much more privacy with twin-sharing rooms to call their own.

Each hostel block has a large, cheerful common room where the boys can enjoy their hours of leisure. Each common room is equipped with a music system and a television where defined channels are available from the school's dish antenna.

Kitchen and Dining Facilities
The dining hall is located conveniently in a separate building and is easily accessible from the various hostel blocks.

Food is prepared strictly in hygienic conditions under the supervision of an experienced Mess Manager. The kitchen is equipped with a deep freezer, a water cooler, modern cooking gadgets and a bakery.

An expert dietician ensures that the boys enjoy well-balanced, nutritious, vegetarian meals and involves the boys in the process of defining the weekly menu with their suggestions. Dietician also takes care of specific dietary requirements.

The teachers take their meals in the central dining hall, which helps them become familiar with boy's activities and concerns. These informal mealtime conversations give boys' a chance to mix with the faculty without making an appointment or sitting in an office. Because they interact with the faculty in a variety of ways, boys feel that they can approach their teachers in order to ask questions and to learn.

Health & Medical Centre
Every care is taken of the boy's health. Meticulous health records of all boys are maintained and in the rare cases of a serious illness the boy is immediately transferred to the city hospital and the parents and local guardians informed.

The school ordinarily takes all precautions for the safety of their boys. In case of serious illness, the school cannot take responsibility. We assure you though, that all possible care is taken at every instance. Parents are requested to keep the school authorities informed of specific medical requirements.

Religion
The B K Birla Centre for Education maintains the traditions of its founders in believing that opportunities should be provided for worship, thus encouraging all students to address the spiritual and moral dimensions of their lives. Well aware of the diverse religious beliefs of the people of India, the school maintains its secular character and encourages its students to explore and develop their respective faiths. They are encouraged to ask serious questions and find their own answers while gaining knowledge of religions in general.

Morning prayers, recited in the assembly before the formal teaching starts for the day, are followed by the news, a thought-for-the-day and a speech. The school celebrates religious festivals of all faiths in the course of the year.

Communication with Parents
The school places great emphasis on involving parents in the education process of their children. Comprehensive records are kept of a pupil's performance throughout the year and a comprehensive report of the child's progress is sent to the parents at the end of each term. These reports serve a dual purpose: one of allowing adults (teachers, housemasters and parents) to monitor the progress of the child, and, again, to allow pupils to reflect on their performance
.

Parents are requested to study the reports with care and consult the school authorities if necessary. They are also welcome to visit the school to meet the Principal during specified hours to discuss their child's progress.

Parents/visitors are not allowed to visit their wards during school hours. They may meet them on Sundays and Holidays (as per the school year planner) during specified visiting hours only, but not in the dormitories.

Boys will not be allowed to receive or make telephone calls, However, necessary arrangement will be made to record calls and pass on the messages to the boy.
